Between the Waterfront and Sea Point, lies the old Light House of Mouille Point. The unique landmark has been in existence from eighteen twenty four and was the first lighthouse built from regular bricks in Southern Africa. The twenty metre high light house tower originally had a petroleum fired inner lantern with a radius of six nautical miles. In 1928, an electrical light was installed with flashes that are visible from up to twenty five miles. The Mouille Point lighthouse can be visited during the weekly by the public.
